Following the last edition of BNCM in 2017 (Rostock, Germany), BNCM2021 aims at carrying on a almost 35-year tradition of excellent science, initiated in 1986 by the European Section on Applied Biocatalysis (ESAB) of the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB) in Wageningen (The Netherlands).

Enzymes for industrial applications (agro-food, pharma, textile, detergency, biosensors, biofuels) often require non-conventional environments. Biotransformations in organic solvents, ionic liquids, gaseous media, but also in water- and solvent-free systems, or the need for enzyme compartmentalization as in multi-phase systems and flow-based bioprocesses are just some examples.

The programme of BNCM2021 will include invited lectures delivered by internationally recognized speakers, both from academia and industry, oral and poster sessions dedicated to the selected abstracts.
