After obtaining my Ph. D. in Chemistry at the Universidad de Oviedo in June 2003 under the supervision of Prof. Vicente Gotor and Prof. Rosario Brieva, I spent two years at the Istituto di Chimica del Riconoscimento Molecolare (CNR, Milan, Italy) in the research group of Dr. Giacomo Carrea. In 2007, I got a Juan de la Cierva contract at the Universidad de Oviedo and after that, I spent a nine-months stage in 2010 at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) working with Prof. Marco W. Fraaije. In 2011 I was hired by the pharmaceutical company Antibióticos S.A.U (León, Spain) until 2014, when I started a Ramón y Cajal contract at the Departamento de Química Orgánica of Universidad de Sevilla. In 2019 I got my position as Associate Professor at this university. My research experience among these years in the field of asymmetric catalysis employing enyzmes as organocatalysts is reflected in more than 75 publications and four patents. I have been coauthor of five book chapters and coeditor of the books "Biocatalysis: an Industrial Perspective", published in 2017 by the Royal Society of Chemistry and “Biocatalysis for Practitioners” published in 2021 by Wiley-VCH. I have participated in several national and international congresses in the fields of organic chemistry, biotechnology and biocatalysis, presenting posters and oral communications.
